There are two main types: Diagnostic Radiographers who use imaging tools like X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and ultrasound to diagnose injuries and illnesses, and Therapeutic Radiographers who work with cancer patients, using radiation to treat disease.
You need GCSEs in English, Maths, and Science (Grade 4/C or above) and A-Levels (usually including a science like Biology or Physics) OR a BTEC/Access to HE Diploma in Science or Health.
You must complete an HCPC-approved BSc (Hons) degree in Diagnostic or Therapeutic Radiography (usually 3 years full-time), which includes clinical placements.
Yes, after graduating you must register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) to practise as a radiographer.
